On Friday, we drove down to Poole. We had a 6:30 am Ferry from Guernsey on Saturday morning, and while, 6 months ago when we got the Ferry tickets, Mike & Win had initially planned to leave Northampton at 1 am Saturday morning for the drive down, I suggested that we look and see if we could find a cheap hotel to spend the night - particularly since our family would finally be starting to get used to the time difference and it didn't seem so great to be so off schedule.
We found a cheap hotel - the Travelodge Poole, and booked 3 rooms

| Natalie drove one of the three cars down - I was in her car along with Andrew and Carys |

The travelodge was pretty basic, but good enough

| I didn't take any pictures of our room, but here's a picture from the web that looks pretty much the same - two single rollaway beds around a queen sized one. |
 |
| Here is a picture that I took of a card that was in our (unairconditioned) room. We definitely didn't need the duvet, but it wasn't too bad. |
We went out to dinner at a sit-down fish and chip restaurant across the parking lot. The only other thing nearby was a supermarket. I wandered around there for a bit. I always like to look at the magazines....
 |
| I like wandering around and looking at all the comics and magazines with free gifts ... |
 |
| At first Natalie thought that this Rail magazine came with a free pie ... it was only a little later that she realized that someone had just dropped off a pie they decided they didn't want on the shelf, at which point she couldn't stop giggling!!! |
We had a pretty early night, since we had to get up at 4:15, so we could be ready to leave the hotel by 5 am ....
